The Codex

Timeline

The sequence as the Codex records it — from the first gap in nothing to the fall of the Titans. In-world order, not historical dating.

The Protogenoi

  1. Chaos comes to be

The gap opens. Nothing acts, nothing thinks, but everything afterwards is possible.

  2. Gaia opens her eyes

The first thing in creation with extent and persistence. Everything before her was a state; she is a foundation.

The Titans

  1. The sickle of adamant

Gaia forges a weapon and asks her sons to use it on their father. Only Kronos agrees. The first regime falls.

  2. Kronos swallows his children

Warned he will be unseated exactly as he unseated his father, Kronos takes the obvious precaution. Rhea hides the sixth.

The Olympians

  1. The Titanomachy

Ten years of war. The Cyclopes forge the thunderbolt, the Hundred-Handed hurl the mountains, and Olympus takes the sky.

The timeline extends through Of Men and Of Monsters as those volumes are written.
